BoxBrownie Virtual Staging: Pricing, Quality and Alternatives (2026)

BoxBrownie is one of the best-known names in real estate image editing, and for a lot of agents it is the default. If you are weighing it up, here is a straight comparison — what it costs, what it does well, and where something else fits better.

Fair warning: we sell virtual staging too, so read this knowing that. We have tried to make it the comparison we would want to read, including the parts where BoxBrownie is the better buy.

BoxBrownie Virtual Staging Pricing

From BoxBrownie's published price list, as of August 2026:

Service Price per image
Virtual staging $30
Item removal / virtual cleaning $10 standard; $5 for one or two small items
Day to dusk $5
Image enhancement $2
Floor plan redraw $30 (2D black & white) to $40 (3D full colour)

Turnaround and revision terms are not stated on the pricing page itself — worth asking about before you order, since those are the two variables that most often turn a quoted price into a different real price.

Where BoxBrownie Is Genuinely Hard to Beat

The add-on menu. This is the real story. Day-to-dusk at $5 and image enhancement at $2 are extremely cheap for what they are. If your listings mostly need a sky replaced, exposure fixed and a dusk conversion on the hero shot, you can do a whole listing for the price of a couple of staged photos anywhere else.

Item removal at $5–$10. Priced as its own line rather than bundled into staging. For an occupied listing where you just want the clutter gone and nothing added, that is efficient.

Breadth. Staging, renders, floor plans, copywriting and video sit under one login, which matters if you want a single tool rather than a single relationship.

Brand familiarity. Many brokerages already have accounts and approved workflows. Switching costs are real and not always worth paying.

Where Another Provider May Suit You Better

If you want it cheaper. Styldod publishes $23 a photo, dropping to $16 on orders of eight or more, with unlimited revisions and 24–48 hour turnaround. On staging alone that is meaningfully below BoxBrownie's $30.

If you want a designer relationship rather than a ticket. Stuccco ($35 pay-as-you-go, $24.50 in their larger bundle) and Bella ($37 USD) both work designer-direct with published revision policies.

If you need architectural rendering, not photo editing. This is the clearest split. Virtual staging starts from a photograph of a room that exists. If the property is not built yet, no amount of staging helps — you need images modelled from the drawings. Bella renders interiors at $550 and exteriors from $750, with 3D floor plans from $69.95. See the full 3D rendering services range.

If you're staging almost nothing. An AI tool on a monthly plan will cost you a few dollars a photo. It will also make scale and shadow mistakes. For a rental ad, fine. For an MLS listing, check every frame — see AI staging vs human designers.

Disclosure Applies Whoever You Use

Whichever provider stages your photos, the listing obligations are yours. Most MLSs require virtually staged images to be labelled, and in California AB 723 has required it by law since 1 January 2026 — both a clear label and a way for buyers to access the original unaltered photo. Keep your originals. Full detail on what AB 723 requires.
