Five empty bedrooms, five different looks
The listing describes a lower level with four more bedrooms and a large rec room, which is exactly what a family buyer in this school district is looking for. In the photos, though, every bedroom was the same: grey carpet, white walls and one window. Our designers staged each room with its own bed, bedding and art, from a tufted headboard with teal pillows to a natural-wood frame with striped linen, so the gallery shows several distinct bedrooms instead of one room repeated.

The deck: an outdoor living room under the trees
The cedar deck looks over a large yard and tall evergreens. Empty, it is just boards and railings. A sectional, lounge chairs and a coffee table on an outdoor rug turn it into a second living room, which is how buyers in the Pacific Northwest use a deck from spring to fall.

What we can and cannot say
We do not claim staging sold this house, and it sold below its asking price. Price, timing and the listing agent's marketing matter most. What the record shows is that the staged photos were ready before the listing went live, and the house sold about six weeks later. We include it because it shows how virtual staging handles a house with many similar empty rooms.
Takeaways for family homes
- Give every bedroom its own identity. Buyers count bedrooms in the photos, and identical empty rooms are easy to skip past.
- Stage the deck in the Northwest. Outdoor living space is a real selling point, and furniture shows its size.
- Stage the lower level as carefully as the main floor. It is often where the extra bedrooms are, and the hardest part of the house to picture.
